Holly Hunter is an American actor and producer who is well-known for her highly laudable performance in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. The film Piano won her several awards, among them an Oscar. Actresses have a lengthy history of working on Broadway as well as Off-Broadway initiatives. In her early years, Helen Keller was her favourite character in a fifth grade production. She became deaf in one ear after suffering from the mumps virus, however she did not let this disability dampen her determination to become an actor. While in college, she took classes in theatre and then moved from Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania, to New York City in pursuit of her goal. In a chance encounter she got stuck in an elevator with playwright Beth Henley and the two worked together on the Broadway Crimes of the Heart' which made Hunter's debut. After moving from New York to Los Angeles, Hunter tried to land film roles. A supporting role was securing for her in Swing Shift. Since she was a part of the film, Holly Hunter has been featured in a variety of television movies and series. Holly Hunter is a Hollywood Walk of Fame star and has been awarded the Women in Film Lucy Award.
